CLOSE MY EYES

(1991)

This movie, directed by Stephen Poliakoff in 1991, relates the incestuous relationship of a young man, Richard (Clive Owen) with his sister, Natalie (Saskia Reeves). After the death of their parents, the two began ambiguous relationship. Afterwards, Richard left England for the USA to work. When he came back, he has been invited in the house of his sister and his new boyfriend, Sinclair (Alan Rickman), who marry her a few weeks later. This man is a businessman who is interested in everything and who is very talkative. In spite of her feelings for him, Natalie often met his brother, with whom she began an incestuous relationship. They met each other at the flat of Sinclair's parents which was free, and Natalie said to her husband that she would be away from a short period. During that time, Sinclair thought that she had an affair with another guy and asked, during a picnic, to Richard, if he knew something but he answered no. Afterwards, the relationship between Natalie and Richard became poisoned because she wanted to stop it for her love for Sinclair even though Richard was really in love with her, and didn't want to stop. At the end, during a party organized for Sinclair and Natalie's removal to USA, this one and Richard fought. When he saw them coming back, Sinclair understood what happened between them but refused to hear it from them.

It's an interesting movie, with an original story, wonderful images and beautiful landscapes. The movie has been shot in part at Cliveden House and Surrey where we can see beautiful houses and rivers. The actors are very good and Alan, as a businessman who is interested in everything, is very cute. :)
